Vahid Tavassoli Vahid Tavassoli

Vahid grew up in Tehran, where he received both his BS in EE from the University of Tehran in 1994, and his MS in Physics from Shahid Beheshti University in 1997. Then, he decided to work as a research engineer at different companies. Particularly, he spent several years at the New Products Development center of IKCO, where he gained much experience in designing and implementing electronic systems, network architectures, and communication protocols. In 2006, Vahid started his PhD at the University of Victoria, Canada. His research involved lasers, fiber transmission systems, optical receivers, advanced optical modulation formats, nonlinear phase noise, error estimation, etc. with experiments, simulations and modelings. After he completed his PhD in 2012, he joined IMEMS group at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral fellow under supervision of Dr. Farrokh Ayazi.
